The Sage of Dibbin Creek

MaineFlyFish.com has been a blessing over the past 20-plus years. It has taken me to places I never would have gone and introduced me to people I never would have met. Dee Dauphinee is one of those individuals. Born in Bangor, Maine, Dee has led a life filled with adventures, from farming to becoming a physician assistant to guiding mountaineering expeditions. He has fished all over the world and authored several books. So, when I encountered him at the Marlborough Fly Show, the first thing he asked was, “Are you still doing book reviews?” I replied affirmatively, and he handed me his latest book, “The Sage of Dibbin Creek.” Little did I know how pleasantly surprised I would be by this read.

I believe this book belongs in my top ten favorite reads. It’s a tale about how fly fishing brings together people who might never have crossed paths and how it helps a child grow while healing a family from loss. It encapsulates everything that fishing represents. Dee captivates you, and you instantly develop an affection for the characters, rooting for them throughout their journey. He skillfully portrays the beauty of fly fishing and imparts valuable lessons along the way.

If you’re in search of a captivating read, I highly recommend picking up this book.
