Fly Fishing the Hex Hatch

If you have ever seen my vehicle your eyes are instantly draw to my license plate which reads HEX HTCH. My biggest brook trout (5 1/2 lbs) in a remote pond in Maine came from the Hexagenia hatch, Maines largest mayfly. There was no internet like today to reference it so I learned about the hatch by fishing it over and over again. Leighton Wass may have written the Bible for Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont on the Hex hatch.

I haven’t read the book in it’s entirety but I think with winter still holding on, I need to let you know about it. He takes you through the different stages of the mayfly and how to fish it under different conditions. He takes you to 160 bodies of water through Maine,Vermont and New Hampshire. I look forward to referencing this book and reading the rest of his stories of fishing different bodies of water. If you have never experienced this hatch, you need to get this book and go explore the endless bodies of water throughout the tri states.
